Airtificial receives first orders from Indra

Madrid, September 21, 2026. Airtificial and Indra have materialized the strategic alliance they signed last October to develop their respective activities in the defense sector with the signing of several projects. These include the manufacture of structural parts in composite materials for the radar that Indra integrates into the A-400 Military; radome covers for Indra’s Flight Test Center; and the development and manufacture of TPS –Test Program Set– adapters for Indra’s test benches [for power and radio-frequency applications].

The TPS –Test Program Sets– are specific solutions comprising hardware and software that make it possible to adapt existing test benches to verify the correct operation of different equipment and technological systems before their integration. In this case, Airtificial’s developments will focus on power and radio-frequency systems, enabling verification of their operation under controlled conditions, test automation, traceability of results and compliance with the quality standards required for this equipment in highly complex industrial environments.

Airtificial is thus advancing its positioning in the defense sector as a technological and industrial partner in highly demanding programs for Indra. These are some of the projects signed with the Spanish technology giant, and others are already under negotiation.

The work, carried out under the MoU signed by both companies in October 2025, covers three complementary areas of collaboration: robotics and automation of industrial processes; the design and manufacture of structures in composite materials for aerospace, naval, land, aeronautical and defense applications; and the development of onboard electromechanical equipment for air and land platforms. Under this agreement, the two companies are already carrying out two projects: on the one hand, the manufacture of carbon-fiber structural parts for aeronautical applications; and, on the other, the development and manufacture of TPS adapters for Indra’s universal test benches for the validation of complex technological systems. Both companies continue to analyze new collaboration opportunities within the capabilities covered by the MoU.

Manufacture of composite parts in Jerez

The first project will be carried out at Airtificial’s facilities in Jerez and consists of the manufacture of fairings, a set of structural fiberglass parts designed to form the A400M radar fairings. This work is part of the continuation of this program, one of the main defense aeronautics programs, in which Airtificial collaborates with Indra. To date, approximately 770 parts have been manufactured for this project.

These fairings are a relevant element within the aircraft structure, as they act as an external cover with a dual function: protecting certain onboard systems and helping to reduce aerodynamic drag, while also providing the necessary protection for internal components and meeting the technical requirements of the program.

In addition to the fairings, Airtificial manufactures carbon-fiber radomes for the Flight Test Center operated by Indra in Lugo.

These activities reinforce the complementarity of the two companies’ capabilities and reflect the progressive expansion of an industrial relationship that continues to generate new collaboration opportunities. Specifically, Airtificial works with Indra by providing engineering, industrialization, manufacturing and quality-control capabilities for highly demanding aeronautical programs.

Development of TPS adapters for universal test benches in Seville

The second project consists of the award for the development and manufacture of TPS –Test Program Sets– adapters for Indra’s universal test benches. These devices are developed at the Seville plant and represent a strategic line within the collaboration between Airtificial and Indra, linked to the expansion and growth of the company’s technology programs.

The TPS are devices that make it possible to adapt different systems to Indra’s test benches and include specific software developments whose function is to check and, where appropriate, validate the correct operation of the different operational systems and subsystems of an aircraft or any type of military system. For example, they include the system that automates the final tests confirming the correct operation of the radio-frequency modules of the PSRD2D radar. These test benches allow checks to be carried out on the ground before the systems are installed on the aircraft.

Specifically, the TPS developed by Airtificial will be used for power and radio-frequency testing, two key areas for verifying the correct operation of highly complex technological systems before their integration or entry into service.

A strategic collaboration in aerospace and defense programs

Both projects strengthen the collaboration between Indra and Airtificial and highlight the company’s capabilities in two key areas: the advanced manufacture of aeronautical components in composite materials in Jerez and the design and development of testing and validation solutions in Seville. With more than 30 years of experience in the aerospace sector, both civil and military, Airtificial is further strengthening its position as a technological and industrial partner in highly demanding aerospace and defense programs, where engineering capability, industrialization, advanced manufacturing, quality control and operational confidentiality are essential.

“These new projects reflect Indra’s confidence in Airtificial as a technological and industrial partner for highly complex programs. Our ability to combine advanced manufacturing in composite materials with testing and validation solutions allows us to participate across multiple areas of its programs, from the advanced manufacture of structures and components to the development of testing, validation and process-automation systems.

This ability to offer comprehensive solutions makes us a key partner for the different stages of aerospace and defense programs,” said Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial.

The collaboration with Indra enables Airtificial to advance its growth strategy in high-value-added sectors, strengthening its presence in aerospace and defense and consolidating the role of its Jerez and Seville centers as specialized industrial and technology hubs.
