Airtificial expands in India and China with seven projects for Renault, Nissan, and Tata suppliers
- The Group advances its international expansion strategy with seven new automotive projects in Q1 for steering wheel, airbag, and electric steering system assembly and testing lines for manufacturers such as Renault, Nissan, Tata, Mahindra, and Chery Automobile.
Madrid, April 15, 2025. Airtificial Group continues to deliver on its Strategic Plan and reinforces its international business expansion in Asia, securing seven automotive projects during the first three months of the year. These projects will serve major global automotive brands including Renault, Nissan, Tata, Mahindra, and Chery Automobile, and will be executed for Tier-1 suppliers such as Nexteer, Autoliv, Joyson, and Hitachi. The business unit Airtificial Intelligent Robots will be responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions for high-criticality components used in long-series production of combustion, electric, and hybrid vehicles.
The signed projects highlight the growing importance of Airtificial’s plant in India, inaugurated in July 2024, as the country’s automotive industry gains global relevance driven by rising demand for advanced technological solutions and rapid industrialization. The production lines will include automated processes for assembly, quality verification, and component testing.
Two of the most significant projects in India involve a Tier-1 supplier of automotive safety systems globally renowned for its innovation in airbags and passive safety. In early 2025, Airtificial Intelligent Robots signed its first project for the assembly and verification of steering systems. The installation allowed production of over five different steering wheel models with a cycle time of 40 seconds. The company has now signed an extension of this line to include a pioneering conveyor system and elevators. The new program, which features advanced technologies such as riveting, machine vision for inspections, and electrical continuity testing, has a delivery lead time of 22 weeks.
In parallel, the company has signed a turnkey project with a Tier-1 supplier specialized in passenger vehicle components. This project involves the assembly of the driver’s airbag, steering wheel, and the end customer’s emblem, incorporating technologies such as frontal airbag folding, hot air riveting, and machine vision verification. Delivery of the line is expected within 22 weeks.
Additionally, in line with Airtificial’s commitment to innovation, the company has developed an Automatic Parking Brake system (APBMi) for a mobility technology supplier whose end customer is one of India’s largest vehicle manufacturers. The project includes pressing processes, automatic screwing, and end-of-line testing, with a delivery lead time of 22 weeks.
Growth in China, One of the World’s Most Demanding Tech Markets
From its factory in Suzhou’s high-tech industrial park — covering 278 square kilometers and specialized in robotics and electronics — Airtificial will carry out three new robotic automotive projects featuring cutting-edge technology. These contracts reflect the success of the company’s strategy in this key market.
The first major project is with a leading Tier-1 supplier of electric steering components, involving the assembly of this type of system. The line will be delivered after 30 weeks and will include four stations: automatic greasing, pressing, laser welding for the sensor, and a calibration station, along with all required process auditing tools.
The second contract is with a Tier-1 automotive supplier specializing in electronic components and control systems. They have entrusted Airtificial to upgrade their assembly and testing line with advanced technological solutions. This project includes the integration of automatic screwdrivers and functional verification of the final product, with an 18-week delivery time.
The final project in China is for another global Tier-1 supplier specializing in steering systems and vehicle control technologies. Airtificial will install testing equipment for dual-pinion electric steering systems, including stations for functional verification, pinion clearance calibration, and friction and vibration testing. Delivery is scheduled within 20 weeks.
Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial Group, stated: “We’ve changed the company’s trajectory and ended 2024 with the best results in our history. These new contracts reflect the success of our product and geographic diversification strategy. We’ve started 2025 with revenues we didn’t achieve last year. Our path forward in Asia is long and full of opportunity.”
