Airtificial signs its largest contract in electric automotive

Madrid, 20 December 2024. Airtificial Group has signed the largest contract in its history, worth over €9 million, in the automotive sector. The agreement covers the design, manufacture, and turnkey delivery of an advanced assembly line for electric and hybrid car components for one of the world’s largest Tier-1 automotive suppliers. This state-of-the-art line, commissioned by the Intelligent Robots business unit, is the result of years of technological development, industrial design, and R&D and will be delivered turnkey to the client’s factory. The new contract builds on previous agreements with this German Tier-1 supplier and adds to the more than 700 projects the Company has completed throughout its history. This project reinforces confidence in Airtificial as a B2B provider, showcasing its 20+ years of expertise in engineering long-series assembly lines for the automotive industry.

The contract entails a design phase of 46 weeks and 64 weeks for manufacturing and validation. Airtificial’s technology will enable this German manufacturer to achieve an initial production volume of 300,000 units, with the capacity to double this figure in subsequent phases.

The assembly line designed by Airtificial is a large-scale, high-tech system: it spans approximately 20 square meters and is equipped with nine robotic arms featuring onboard artificial vision systems, induction pressing technology, leak tests, and performance testing. The Airtificial Intelligent Robots unit will oversee the manufacturing of this line at its Manresa facility. The line is specifically designed for the assembly of so-called eCompressors, essential components in electric vehicles that ensure the cooling of batteries and the cabin. These compressors are mounted onto the vehicle chassis, and Airtificial’s assembly line will also verify their proper functioning.

This industrial technology, tailored to the client’s factory needs, optimizes the efficiency of the assembly process and increases the speed of long-series manufacturing. For instance, this line reduces the resources required for the assembly process by more than 30% compared to traditional methods.

Airtificial strengthens its position as a supplier to leading Tier-1 companies in the automotive sector, adding this contract to the more than 700 it has already signed. The Intelligent Robots division is increasingly capable of designing and manufacturing high-value, complete assembly lines, with projects carried out at its facilities in Spain, Mexico, India, Poland, and China.

Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial, highlights that “this prominent Tier-1 has once again entrusted us with a cutting-edge technology project in the automotive industry.” He added, “We have the engineering expertise and manufacturing capacity to meet the most demanding needs of this sector. Supplying one of the world’s leading Tier-1 companies with highly innovative technology reaffirms the confidence that industry leaders place in Airtificial to implement state-of-the-art technological solutions and processes.”

With this new agreement, Airtificial solidifies its position as a strategic Tier-2 supplier for the global automotive industry, with contracts and projects for clients in Mexico, the U.S., France, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, India, China, and Turkey. The Company boasts advanced technological capabilities and highly complex industrial manufacturing processes tailored to the automotive sector. Airtificial’s more than 20 years of engineering expertise have enabled the development of cutting-edge B2B technologies in the electric mobility sector. This work is critical in today’s legislative and social context, which increasingly seeks to reduce the use and impact of fossil fuels in transportation.
