Airtificial to build a major dam in the Dominican Republic
Develops the engineering, management, and supervision of a strategic project

Madrid, June 25, 2025. Airtificial has secured a new contract that further strengthens its reputation and positioning as a leading engineering company in water infrastructure projects and water resource management in Latin America. The Group’s Infrastructures division will sign, on a 50/50 basis with a prestigious local partner, a €6 million agreement in the Dominican Republic for the management, engineering, and supervision of the Boca de los Ríos Dam project on the Guayubín River in Santiago Rodríguez province. The project will last 18 months, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
The initiative, promoted by the Empresa de Generación Hidroeléctrica Dominicana (EGEHID), involves the construction of a concrete dam nearly 41 meters high, a 640-meter-long lateral rockfill closure dyke with a variable-height impermeable core (ranging from 1.5 to 11 meters) on the left bank, and a reservoir with a capacity of over 50 million cubic meters. Its primary goals include agricultural irrigation, potable water supply, livestock industry development, and future hydroelectric power generation.
Social Commitment
The project aims to sustainably regulate river flows to ensure a more reliable water supply for surrounding irrigation areas while also modernizing them. In addition to technical supervision of the dam, the project includes the reconstruction of more than 19 kilometers of rural roads and the rehabilitation of 25 kilometers of highway between the municipalities of Los Quemados and Sabaneta.
