Indra Group and Airtificial reach a collaboration agreement on intelligent robotics for vehicle manufacturing and composite materials for drones
- The two companies have signed an agreement within the framework of the 2nd National Defence Industry Ecosystem Meeting, organised by Indra Group, which brought together nearly 600 companies, SMEs, start-ups, universities, and research centres.
- The agreement aims to explore collaboration in automation, industrialisation, and maintenance of platforms and vehicles; in the design and manufacture of composite structures for drones and other devices; and in the development of onboard and ground-support electromechanical systems.
Madrid, 29 October 2025. – Indra Group has reached a strategic agreement with Airtificial to collaborate in three main areas: robotics and industrial process automation for platform manufacturing; composite material structures for aeronautical and defence applications; and onboard electromechanical systems for both aerial and ground platforms.
The Executive Chairman of Indra Group, Ángel Escribano, and the CEO of Airtificial, Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, signed the agreement during the 2nd National Defence Industry Ecosystem Meeting, which brought together nearly 600 participants convened by Spain’s leading multinational in defence and advanced technologies.
“We are committed to continuing to add new partners and collaborators who can help us strengthen our global supply chain and make the defence sector more robust and competitive. We trust this agreement will allow us to integrate Airtificial’s advanced capabilities into our industrial plan and, through that, contribute to the reindustrialisation of our country —a key element to ensuring our technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy,”
stated Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group.
In turn, Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial, explained:
“Airtificial has much to contribute to Indra Group in cutting-edge technology for long-series manufacturing processes of defence vehicles, the production of structural components for aircraft such as next-generation drones, electromechanical equipment, and systems development. We will put our experience, deep specialisation, and know-how —as well as our factories— at Indra Group’s service to grow together and strengthen our partner’s position as a global benchmark player in the Defence sector. We are deeply grateful to Indra Group for their trust in us.”
Under the agreement, in the area of robotics and industrial process automation, Indra Group and Airtificial will explore collaboration in the automation, industrialisation, and maintenance of production and testing lines. Airtificial’s expertise in these fields could thus support Indra Group’s manufacturing plans for various platforms.
Regarding the production of drones and other devices within Indra Group’s Weapons & Ammunition business, Airtificial emerges as a potential supplier of components, structures, and assembled sets for production, thanks to its design, industrialisation, manufacturing, and maintenance capabilities in composite materials —a material made from two or more synthetic components.
Finally, leveraging its experience in the design, industrialisation, and production of onboard electromechanical systems, Airtificial could also collaborate with Indra Group in the development of critical systems such as flight control sticks, control units, and transducers for aerial and ground platforms; military system test benches; mission consoles and systems; and maintenance services for electromechanical equipment.
