Airtificial Signs Two Contracts to Manufacture in the U.S. and China
- Two renowned automotive manufacturers headquartered in the United States and China have awarded Airtificial two contracts, worth nearly €3 million, for the design and manufacture of an automated assembly line for trucks and buses in Germany, and another line for standard passenger vehicles in Mexico.
16 February 2026, Madrid, Airtificial Group is expanding its industrial footprint into trucks and buses. The Airtificial Intelligent Robots division has signed two contracts for a combined amount of approximately €3 million for the design and manufacture of two advanced industrial automation lines aimed at producing large electric and hybrid vehicles. The projects have been awarded by two international Tier 1 suppliers based in the United States and China and will be installed at the plants of two end vehicle manufacturers in Germany and Mexico, respectively.
The first project has been awarded by a U.S.-based Tier 1 supplier and involves the design and manufacture of an automated projection welding line for joining metal components. This state-of-the-art assembly line reduces assembly times for structural components in freight transport trucks and commercial passenger buses for a well-known European OEM. Airtificial has extensive prior experience in developing lines for this type of industrial vehicle, providing a high level of specialization and process expertise. The line incorporates proprietary integration software that optimizes data processing and real-time decision-making, improving cycle times, process robustness, and quality standards, ensuring 0% defects.
The line will be installed in Germany and has been designed to operate with a single operator and a 30-second cycle time. It will occupy 55 square meters and integrate four industrial robots, three specific projection welding systems, three magnetic gripping clamps for components, six 3D vision cameras, two automatic traceability readers, and two special semi-solid paste dispensing systems. The manufacturing lead time is 27 weeks from purchase order issuance, with delivery scheduled 35 weeks thereafter.
The second line, awarded to Airtificial by a Chinese Tier 1 supplier, involves the modernization and capacity increase of the assembly lines of an end manufacturer in Mexico.
The solution will extend the lifecycle of existing industrial facilities, aligned with circular economy principles, and will support the production of electronic power steering systems.
The line will operate with six operators, a 26-second cycle time, and a footprint of 250 square meters. It will integrate automatic pressing, greasing, clipping, inspection, screwing, and plasma treatment processes. The manufacturing period will be 26 weeks, with delivery expected 36 weeks from the purchase order. The clipping process is a mechanical assembly operation using clips or press-fit methods, without screws or welding. Plasma treatments are surface conditioning processes that use ionized gas (plasma) to modify the surface of a material without altering its geometry.
Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial, stated: “These projects demonstrate our ability to lead both the implementation of new advanced automation lines and the transformation of existing industrial facilities, generating tangible improvements in efficiency and sustainability. Being selected by companies that directly supply major global OEMs is a clear endorsement of our technology and operational reliability.”
From an operational standpoint, both solutions have been designed under criteria of maximum productivity, resource optimization, and minimal operational footprint. The interim timelines between manufacturing and delivery include commissioning phases, sample validation, process optimization, and final line certification, incorporating multiple product variants that highlight the versatility and flexibility of the solutions developed by Airtificial.
