Airtificial diversifies and ‘hops onto’ electric bikes

Madrid, March 7th, 2022. Airtificial is accelerating its business diversification strategy with its entry into the electric mobility sector. Thus, the Spanish company has signed a two-year contract for six million euros with the electric motorbike company Stark Future, based in Barcelona, for the mass production of carbon fibre parts for the Stark VARG motorbike model. These parts will be manufactured in forged carbon, a type of composite that allows an excellent balance between durability of the part and price competitiveness for high-capacity series.

This new contract for the production of composite parts will allow the reopening of the El Burgo de Osma plant in Soria, which is expected to gradually recover its activity after the crisis caused by the Covid pandemic in the aeronautical sector. It will be a reactivation adjusted to the workload generated by this two-year contract. The company is not stopping here and continues to work on providing efficient solutions to its customers through the integration of technical knowledge of materials together with the development of technology and engineering, which are the pillars of the Group.

The start-up of the programme will take place immediately. The target is to deliver the first units during the summer of 2022 and thus start a first series of just over 4,000 units with deliveries scheduled until the end of this year. By 2023, deliveries are expected to reach 62,000 units.

The company believes that the signing of this first contract with Stark Future could be a gateway to the electric mobility sector. In this sector, which is taking off on a global scale, the Company can develop its know-how of years in the demanding manufacturing processes of composite parts in the aeronautical sector.

According to Enrique Sanz, Managing Director of AIRTIFICIAL, “this contract demonstrates with facts the strategic shift that the Group has been making in recent months and that will be materialising and consolidating throughout this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the shareholders who subscribed in the last capital increase for their support for the project. Now that we have reached the necessary level of solvency, it is time to unleash our full potential”.
