Eduardo Montes, Airtificial’s new president

Madrid, 28th of June 2023. The Board of Directors, following the General Shareholders’ Meeting of Airtificial, has appointed Eduardo Montes as the new president. By unanimous vote of the members of the Board of Directors, Eduardo Montes replaces Rafael Suñol, who is ending his term of office after three years as president and more than 20 years as part of the company in various positions. Eduardo Montes had been a member of the Board of Directors since the end of 2019 in an independent capacity and president of the Audit Committee. He has now been elected president in view of his extensive experience in the industrial sector, both nationally and internationally.

Eduardo Montes, an industrial engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, has an extensive professional career, both in Spain and in several countries abroad; such as France, the United Kingdom and Germany. The new president of Airtificial has held senior management positions in several Spanish and multinational industrial companies. Specifically, Montes was the general manager of Alcatel, president of Alstom Transport and had an extensive career in Siemens, culminating in the executive vice-presidency of Siemens AG. Subsequently, he was chairman of Ferrotlántica, of UNESA -the Spanish electricity companies’ employer’s association- and of the Wamow tourism group. In fact, Montes has been publicly recognised and awarded on many occasions for his leadership, work and dedication by various organisations, such as the Best Manager of the Year award granted by Actualidad Económica and the consultancy firm AT Kearney, the Best Businessman Award or the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, among others.

The Board of Directors has expressed its gratitude to Rafael Suñol for his loyalty and dedication during more than 20 years of work in the Company, in which his corporate leadership, his invaluable contribution and his vision have been key in the creation and growth of Airtificial. In addition to his three-year stint as president of Airtificial, Suñol has worked for 16 years at Inypsa, and another year at Carbures, companies that gave rise to the current company.

Eduardo Montes, new president of Airtificial, has stated that assuming the presidency of Airtificial means “reinforcing my commitment to the Company, of whose Board I have been a member for years. Airtificial is a company destined to play a strategic role in our country, due to the technologies in which it operates. It has enormous growth potential and the markets in which it operates are all large. My objective is to ensure that, together with the Board of Directors and the Company’s Management, Airtificial will soon occupy its rightful place in the industry and technology of our country. I am very excited about this and, for my part, I will make every effort to make this happen”.
