MODELING PM10 PARTICLE POLLUTION IN THE POPULATION CENTERS OF GIJÓN AND AVILÉS. PRINCIPALITY OF ASTURIAS.

SPAIN

In the Principality of Asturias there are a variety of sources of emissions ––industrial emissions, nonpoint source emissions, port emissions, and road traffic-related emissions–– which, together with the area’s air dynamics, from time to time cause unhealthy levels of airborne PM10. Modeling tools can be used to gain a detailed understanding of the dispersal of pollution from existing sources and the concentration levels reached in the area, as well as to make an estimate about how much sources and industries contribute. In turn, appropriate measures can be put forward in order to lower the levels we breath.
