History

2001

Composites business begins

Became certified in the areas necessary to start the first mass production of parts for the aviation industry.

2003

Composites design & build

Won first contract to fully develop composite structures. This was for the A380 program dorsal fin and HTP fairings.

2003

Airbus engineering services begin

This was the start of a long and fruitful partnership for providing manufacturing engineering services to the former EADS CASA, starting at their facilities in Seville, and then later in Getafe.

2005

Testing system operations begin

Developed the first integrated testing bench for EADS CASA, more specifically for the MRTT military aircraft. This was the first turnkey project handover for the Systems Division.

2006

NADCAP Certification

Became NADCAP certified to manufacture composite parts and perform non-destructive tests.

2006

Navantia engineering services begin

Built first team of software development engineers at the former FABA’s facilities in San Fernando (Cádiz).

2008

First onboard system

Developed the first airworthy system integrating critical hardware and software, which represented a milestone for the firm and Spanish industry, as no other Spanish company up to that point had developed a Level A (highest level of criticality) DO-254 (HW) and DO178 (SW) certified onboard system.

2010

First international composites contract

Won contract with a French client to supply A350 program composite parts.

2010

Maintenance services begin

Opened a new line of business: preventative and corrective maintenance for testing systems and methods.

2011

Unmanned systems

Launched first in-house autonomous vehicle project through the PLATINO project, a smart convoy of unmanned land vehicles.

2014

Jerez factory

Opened and certified the new Jerez factory for manufacturing composite parts. This was as a result of having won the first contract for the A320 Neo project.

2015

Onboard systems for other industries

As a result of its recent diversification strategy, the company won its first contract to develop and mass produce an onboard electronic system for a General Dynamics land defense vehicle.

2016

First international onboard systems contract

In addition to diversifying into other industries, another major milestone for Airtificial A&D was cementing its international growth when it signed its first contract with the giant Turkish Aerospace.

2017

Industrial robotics

Airtificial A&D hands over its first complete robotic solution for the aviation industry, to be used in a production factory.

2018

Sensor-equipped structures

Airtificial A&D develops its first sensor-equipped prototype structure with Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) implemented between the various layers of carbon fiber, which enables monitoring of the structure’s stress and failure parameters.

2019

First Hyperloop capsule

Airtificial A&D becomes the first company in the world to produce a full-size Hyperloop capsule. This achievement is even more impressive considering that it included the design, structural analysis, and industrialization portions of the project, and that it was developed in a record time of less than 10 months.

2021

Factory digitalized

Launched an ambitious project to digitalize the factory. The goal was to implement a production process data collection system, based on our AiTrace system, which can be used to create a digital twin of the factory able to collect, trace, and monitor the main productive KPIs in real time.
